Bertrand Lambolez defended his PhD thesis in 1991 on the structure and function of glutamate receptor-channels.
He became INSERM researcher in 1992 and moved to ESPCI Paris in 1995 as staff scientist and then as leader of the team “Neocortical Interneurons”. He is now heading the team “Cortical Network and Neurovascular Coupling” with Bruno Cauli as co-director in the Neuroscience unit of the IBPS.
Bertrand Lambolez received the “International Society for Neurochemistry Young Scientist award” in 1999 for the invention of the single cell RT-PCR after patch-clamp technique and contribution to the field of glutamatergic transmission. His current research focuses on the physiological and pathophysiological functions of glutamate receptors of the delta family.
